Preschool Daily Schedule
Children begin their preschool experience at CKCP with a warm greeting and set table time activities. Once the class has arrived, the children enjoy circle time where they will have the opportunity to learn about the weather, date, patterns, letters, numbers, sorting and how to assume personal responsibility with the assignment of daily jobs. From circle time the learning experience continues in our theme-based program. The theme-based program is an effective educational philosophy that identifies themes such as books, professions, times of the year, etc., and then incorporates them into the children’s daily activities. The children will then enjoy art time, which helps to enhance fine motor skills such as cutting, coloring and gluing, and then on to library time where the children will learn how to properly care for books and have stories read to them. The children will have access to a computer and board games to help in learning to follow directions and will utilize puzzles for problem solving. Role-playing will also be a creative way for the children to express themselves and to keep with the theme. Different forms of music will be worked into the curriculum including singing songs, musical chairs, listening and playing music and musical instruments. To enhance the children’s socialization skills, free play will also be part of the children’s day at CKC preschool. Free play gives the children the opportunity to explore and let their imaginations develop, while also providing an opportunity for them to interact with their peers
